Valley AIDS Council

Valley AIDS Council (VAC) is the primary provider of HIV prevention, education and testing services and the only Ryan White funded agency providing medical care and supportive services for people living with HIV in the 15-county area that stretches from the lower Rio Grande Valley on the US/Mexico border and up along the Texas Gulf Coast to Corpus Christi.

Voces de la Frontera: Latino HIV Leadership Institute (Voces) is a nine month training initiative designed to increase adherence to antiretroviral treatment among young Latino men who have sex with men (MSM) living with HIV between the ages of 18-24, increase access to the health care system and facilitate linkage to HIV specialized medical care, and to strengthen the relationship between the young Latino MSM living with HIV and the Valley AIDS Council’s HIV specialized medical clinics.

Key Activities

  • Develop strong community and peer leadership that can influence risk reduction and promote adherence among young Latino MSM.
  • Train and develop advocacy skills among participants.
