El Centro Hispano’s Nuestra Voz project increases advocacy and leadership opportunities to shift social norms related to HIV in the Latino community. Specifically, El Centro Hispano trains Latino leaders living with and at risk for HIV to increase awareness and change attitudes and beliefs about HIV through advocacy activities. Advocacy activities include a Spanish-language media campaign and participation in local and statewide advocacy events and networks.
- Build leadership, capacity, knowledge and strategic skills of Latinos living with and at-risk of HIV to engage them in advocacy activities
- Implement an HIV advocacy media campaign that is featured prominently in live, call-in Spanish language radio shows transmitted throughout Central and Eastern North Carolina. The campaign focus on increasing awareness, addressing stigma, changing beliefs and attitudes, and changing the salience of the issue among the Latino community
- Participate in HIV-related advocacy events throughout the Triangle Area of North Carolina
